The Vegas event came together magically - not unlike most of our events. We’ve been incredibly fortunate during this reign.
The Pageant goddesses smiled down on us for this event and we were incredibly grateful.
Following the San Mateo Abilities Expo in October, Jeff from WHILL, scheduled a debrief. Jeff, a major sponsor, said the expo went great, and he heard nothing but good news about our work at the WHILL booth. Jeff inquired what events we had coming up next. I told him we had a few things in the works for November but otherwise our schedule was pretty open until February. Jeff invited me to come check out WHILL, who would be unveiling an exciting new PEV (Personal Electric Vehicle) at CES Las Vegas 2019. I was speechless!!! I quickly accepted his invitation and started coordinating with my team.
CES showcases more than 4,400 exhibiting companies, including manufacturers, developers and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content, technology delivery systems and more. CES had a conference program with more than 250 conference sessions and more than 182,000 attendees from 160 countries. It was huge! We traveled to several locations to see products and speakers during the week.
CES Las Vegas took place the week of January 6th. January 6th 2019, as it happens was the 17th anniversary of my Snowboarding accident. I was thrilled to be making new and exciting memories and grateful for how far I’d come.
I mentioned the event to Robin Wearley, another generous sponsor and founder of ADAPTS, who connected me with Jake Steinman Of North American Journeys. Jake is organizing the first ever TravelAbility Summit in November in San Francisco. Jake and I spoke and quickly realized we had similar goals to elevate the travel experience for the Disability Community and decided to collaborate.
Jake hired me to shoot informational videos while at CES showcasing products beneficial for those with disabilities who enjoy travel.
January came quickly and before we knew it we found ourselves in Las Vegas shooting interviews from companies such as Pandora to the WWE.
We also had the opportunity to watch WHILL exhibit their new Autonomous PEV, and listen to incredible speakers on the Future of gaming, Women in the WWE and the future of Autonomous vehicles. Did I mention we met actor/comedian Sinbad and Stevie Wonder?
